Fonts for Asian and African Scripts

Here you will find a list of fonts that Athinkra has been developing to support certain scripts.

In the case of Balinese, Javanese, Bamum, Bassa Vah, and Soyombo, these are fonts released under the SIL Open Font License.

The Balinese, Javanese and Soyombo fonts released here are not yet Unicode-encoded, although the respective scripts have been accepted into the Unicode Standard.

The Bete, Kpelle, Loma, and Mende fonts are also not yet Unicode-encoded. The Unicode Standard does allow for Mende to be supported, but the rest are still awaiting standard encodings. The Bamum and Bassa Vah fonts are Unicode-encoded.

Please contact us if you have any questions, and watch for more fonts to appear in the coming months. Jason (a.k.a. Jay) Glavy, one of Athinkra's co-founders, is the chief font designer and engineer.
